The Working group for “Fruit and Vitis” has been established in 2006 with the aim of collecting, maintenance, characterization, evaluation and regeneration of Fruit and Vitis varieties and species.
National Collection of grapevine varieties has built since 2001, within experimental station “Jazbina” at the Department of Viticulture and Enology of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb, and regional collections have been established in Split (Institute for Adriatic Crops and Carst Reclamation), Poreč (Institute for Agriculture and Tourism) and on island Krk. Within same institutions collections of apple, cherry, pear, plum, sour cherry, peaches, olives, almond, figs and citrus fruit varieties were established.
